Seven Big East seniors on Portsmouth Invitational rosters

Connect with

A handful of Big East players have made Portsmouth Invitational rosters and will have the opportunity to impress NBA and European scouts.

Unlike last season when Fuquan Edwin was invited to the showcase, Seton Hall does not have any representatives at the 2015 Portsmouth Invitational, but a few other Big East schools do. The full list:

D`Angelo Harrison (St. John’s – RB)
LaDontae Henton (Providence – MD)
Darrun Hilliard (Villanova – SS)
JayVaughn Pinkston (Villanova – RB)
Josh Smith (Georgetown – K&D)
Matt Stainbrook (Xavier – SS)
Jabril Trawick (Georgetown – NSC)

Noticeably absent is Marquette guard Matt Carlino.

The Big East was represented by four players (James Bell, Davante Gardner, Fuquan Edwin, Jamil Wilson) last year.

As noted above, D`Angelo Harrison and JayVaughn Pinkston will team up on Roger Brown’s while Darrun Hilliard and Matt Stainbrook are both on team Sales Systems.

None of the seven graduating seniors are projected in DraftExpress’ mock draft nor’s, as is usually the case for those playing in the event. It’s meant as a showcase for fringe second-rounders and those with D-League expectations to boost their stock in front of representatives of all the NBA franchises and many European clubs.

Before Edwin, Jordan Theodore and Herb Pope were invited to the 2012 Portsmouth Invitational (Theodore did well) while Jeremy Hazell backed out unconventionally the year before.
