Seton Hall sets visit with Jake Forrester, working on Khalid Moore

Seton Hall has locked up the final available official visit for 2018 big man Jake Forrester (Westtown, Pa.) while they’re looking to bring wing Khalid Moore (Archbishop Molloy, N.Y.) on campus too.

After making his list of eight schools a few weeks ago, it looked like the Hall would miss out on one of Forrester’s five allowed official visits following scheduled trips to Indiana, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and Xavier.

But the Pirates staff have orchestrated a visit for next weekend, one which will precede his remaining four as they take place each following weekend across the month of September. It’s notable that Pitt and Virginia Tech both play home football games while Forrester is on campus.

9/1 – Seton Hall
9/8- Indiana
9/15 – Pittsburgh
9/22 – Xavier
9/29 – Virginia Tech

Forrester is a 6-foot-8 three-star power forward who has been on Seton Hall’s radar for some time now; he unofficially visited South Orange earlier this summer after receiving an offer back in January.

Elsewhere, 6-foot-7 2018 New York City wing Khalid Moore is another high school senior the staff is trying to get on campus.

Now a three-star rated wing just outside the top-150, Moore wasn’t a well-known commodity last summer when Seton Hall was the first to offer after watching him run with the NY-based Rens AAU program.

I labeled Moore as a back-up option to five-star Louis King before the summer recruiting period began and that may still be the case — but Seton Hall may not be able to afford to wait on someone like King when they can pounce on a rising local kid like Moore, should he desire to come to South Orange.

As far as 2018 point guards go, Seton Hall has made top-50 Canadian prospect Andrew Nembhard‘s list of nine.

Nembhard is a relatively new name on Seton Hall’s radar, but the connection couldn’t be clearer: He attends Florida’s Montverde Academy and was teammates with current freshman forward Sandro Mamukelashvili

It will be interesting to track this recruitment going forward to see if the Hall can set up a visit and/or make a trimmed list of schools; 6-foot-4 South Kent (Conn.) point guard Anthony Nelson is another ‘1’ being tracked, he’s ranked 9th in the New England region and will visit Dayton later this month after recently receiving offers from Cincinnati, West Virginia, and UNLV.

    Naz Reid to LSU?

I remember someone posting on here that they were worried about the LSU official visit. Then someone responded matter-of-factly that he is just visiting there, nothing to see. Well…

Naz wants to be near his Girlfriend but I have heard Arizona may have inside track

Wants to be near his girlfriend? Well, that will change if they get married.

          That’s funny

  • It was commented on in my last recruiting update, but there are strong rumblings about Taurean Thompson transferring from Syracuse to Seton Hall.

Just wanted to re-hash that topic here.

Things seem to be pointing in that direction. Working on trying to get an apparent waiver for this season.

Wow that’s certainly a turn of events. I know from his recruitment it seemed like SHU was in a good position and his mother liked the school. Would be a nice replacement after Delgado graduates.

As I earlier related , Coach Jimmy B. is working OT to stop a transfer -I have also heard that things are heating up with Anthony Nelson-altho there is concern about the lack of early signings, the dominos may start falling very soon

      • He appears to be the most realistic target for 2018 PGs at this stage. Believe he’s a 6’4 lefty if I remember correctly. Perhaps closer to a Madison Jones-like build than a lightning-quick Jordan Walker.

What can he do to stop it? Who grants a kids release? The school or the league?

  • PadrePirate

At 6’6″ and only 175, Moore is a perfect fit for St Johns, who seems to have the inside track on all the skinny kids. With social media, the hype surrounding SJU’s salad bar travels quick.

Surprised Forrester’s visit came and went without any comment on this board. Does anyone know how it went? I recall Matty P or someone else saying that JF met TT and the two seemed to hit it off. Otherwise, I haven’t heard a thing. I would guess that being first in this string of visits is probably not a good thing. 24/7 has him 100% going to VT.
