Seton Hall not recruiting Gio McLean

Despite a CBSSports.com report, Seton Hall is not recruiting Quinnipiac guard Gio McLean.

Yes, I wrote about this hypothetical earlier this week as it came from a strong source in Jon Rothstein, and yes I did note in the comments section that the news was “a bit curious” if considered as an absolute.

Regardless, I’ve been told that Seton Hall is not going after McLean and they are done recruiting guards for next season.

Of course, that means all eyes turn to Taurean Thompson, who would have a scholarship freed up for him by way of an outgoing transfer plus Braeden Anderson moving to a graduate assistant spot, which appears to be conditional on a Thompson pledge.

We can’t rest on TT. Hopefully the other programs are starting to tire out on him. We need a player like him our program doesn’t get as many opportunities as Michigan ST and Syracuse.

    • Joe Schmoe

I think TT will wind up with us.

    • Longer it drags on, better it is for Seton Hall

Very surprised to hear that we “have stopped recruiting guards.” So that means what for our 2016-17 backcourt?

Could someone provide a roster inventory then of the 1 and 2 guards for next season?

    • There are currently 14 scholarship players and the Hall is very much in the mix for TT, so it’s not surprising at all.

      As of now:
      1 – Madison Jones/Jevon Thomas (Dec.)
      2 – Carrington/Eron Gordon/Powell/Soffer

Prior to JT being eligible, Carrington will see time at the 1 with Gordon behind him in emergency minutes

        Thanks. Who’s the outgoing transfer?

WOW, Jon Rothstein got one wrong

After 40 picks, 6 PGs taken so far, not named IW. Even a French guy…
Hope Zeke is taken 55 by the Nets.

IW just taken at 42 by the Jazz. Not bad. A little further from home than Brooklyn. Will he get a contract? Do they have a D league affiliate?
