Seton Hall to play Temple in Under Armour Reunion

In a renewal of last year’s game against South Carolina at the Garden, Seton Hall will take on Temple in the 2017 Under Armour Reunion.

It’s hard to see the Owls (16-16, 7-11) in the Final Four like Seton Hall’s opponent last December, but veteran head coach Fran Dunphy returns most of his team along with senior point guard Josh Brown, who was granted a medical redshirt after tearing his achilles tendon.

Temple leads the all-time series  — which dates back to 1953-54 — with six wins to Seton Hall’s three. The Owls have won the last two meetings since 1999-00 including a 62-56 smothering of the Hall at the Liacouras Center in Kevin Willard’s first game at the helm back in November of 2010.

Seton Hall’s non-conference schedule is still a couple home games away from completion and now looks like this:

Fairleigh Dickinson
Indiana — Gavitt Games (11/15)
NIT Preseason Tip-Off Campus game #1
NIT Preseason Tip-Off Campus game #2
Rhode Island/Vanderbilt/Virginia (11/23)
Rhode Island/Vanderbilt/Virginia (11/24)
@ Louisville (12/3)
Temple — Under Armour Reunion (TBA)
@ Rutgers (12/16)
VCU (unconfirmed)

Looks like it’s turning into a nice schedule that should challenge the senior heavy group. No reason to go easy on the players this year and should only help when the BE schedule starts.

I’m glad that we have a tougher OOC schedule. Will help us in BE play and boost our RPI

Plus our fans deserve seeing only competitive games prior to the grueling battles throughout the Big East portion of the schedule. If a team wants high-ranking status, it is essential to play and beat the big boys all season long.

        It sure is

  • I should note that the 2 campus games that are part of the NIT are assumed but not confirmed. I’m not sure how often the high-majors take part in those games, but all 4 from last season did play mid/low-majors as part of the NIT.
