REPORT: Seton Hall guard Jevon Thomas involved in choking incident

According to a sourced story from Seton Hall’s very own Setonian, Pirate point guard Jevon Thomas, who is sitting out this season due to transfer regulations, was involved in a very physical incident at the Richie Regan Rec Center on Thursday night.

While officiating a rec league game, a graduate assistant working at Seton Hall named Kevin Matthews was allegedly choked out by Thomas after he didn’t agree with a call that was made.

From the Setonian:

“Jevon and Kevin were arguing,” said one female student that wished to remain anonymous. “Jevon freaked out and placed his hands around Kevin’s throat, then pushed him across the gym floor until a group of students in the gym pulled Jevon off of Kevin and escorted him out of the gym.”

The report also says that the South Orange Police Department as well as paramedics were called to the scene but that no one was seriously hurt.

While this all may sound far-fetched, it isn’t to me. Although it stems from a questionable source, Jevon Thomas appears to have been at the forefront of another incident at a rec center while at Kansas State 10 months ago, his previous school. The scary thing is that it appears to be for the exact same reason.

If true, this black eye couldn’t come at a worst time for a surging Seton Hall team that looks poised to make a run for the NCAA tournament and doesn’t need any off-court distractions.
