Kevin Willard to serve two-game suspension due to tampering probe

South Orange — Never a dull moment for Seton Hall fans. Kevin Willard will serve the first of a two-game suspension during tonight’s exhibition against Misericordia due to an ongoing transfer tampering probe.

The sudden news was broken by the Asbury Park Press.

Assistant coach and former Pirates forward Grant Billmeier will take over in the interim.

The tampering investigation is thought to be regarding Syracuse transfer and current Pirates junior Taurean Thompson, who transferred to South Orange under mysterious circumstances after playing his freshman year for the Orange; Thompson chose Syracuse over Seton Hall coming out of high school.

If the worst that comes out of the N.C.A.A. probe is two games — one an exhibition — you would think that Seton Hall would be happy with that outcome.
