Bubble Watch: Seton Hall still a 10-seed heading into Thursday

As expected, Seton Hall has moved little in projected brackets following their close win over St. John’s and have a chance to jump up to a No. 9 seed or better if they take care of a Providence club on Thursday night that has lost five of their last seven.

There were no bubble games of note on Monday night, so here’s a look at who to root against through Thursday night’s action. Bubble teams are in bold.

Alabama at Kentucky (7pm, ESPN) – The first of three SEC games to keep an eye on, Alabama has a big chance to redeem themselves after losing to Mississippi State over the weekend. The Tide are the first team out of ESPN’s bracket.

LSU at Arkansas (7pm, ESPNU) – Like Alabama, LSU also lost over the weekend in an ugly one against Tennessee. Despite an RPI of 88, LSU is apparently still in contention. They shouldn’t be with another loss here.

Vanderbilt at Florida (7pm, SEC Network) – Vanderbilt is about even with Alabama but, in my opinion, have the best resume of the three SEC bubble schools.

Temple at Tulsa (7pm, ESPN News) – Double Bubble! Big showdown in the AAC; the Owls are just in the field but are on the decline while Tulsa is on the up and just on the outside looking in.

Clemson at Georgia Tech (7pm, ESPN3) – Late addition to the bubble party. Clemson has work to do (around 8+ spots out), but are still in the mix.

Northwestern at Michigan (7pm, BTN) – The Wolverines are currently paired against Seton Hall in a play-in game in CBSSports’ bracket and certainly can’t afford to lose this one.

Duquesne at St. Bonaventure (7pm) – The Bonnies are universally in the first-four out and Duquesne would be a sub-100 loss.

Saint Joseph’s at UMass (7pm) – Phil Martelli’s guys would be a lock if Selection Sunday came before they played another game, but they have a chance to take a bad loss on the road, so this is of note.

George Washington at Richmond (7pm) – Same drill as the first bubble watch. Colonials are a Hall opponent and just on the cusp of the field. Who to pull for?
Arizona at Colorado (9pm, ESPN2) – Currently anywhere from an 8 to a 10-seed, Colorado can really improve their chances by beating the Cats.

San Diego State at Wyoming (10pm, CBSSN) – The Aztecs would likely be eliminated from bid-stealing contention (currently a 13~ seed) with a loss here; they’d have to win their conference tournament.

Washington at Oregon State (11pm, ESPNU) – Double Bubble (x2). If you’re on the East Coast and still up at this time for some reason, keep an eye on this one. Good news is that one school will lose. Both aren’t in great shape so who do we like less here?

Gonzaga at San Diego (10pm) – Only action for both games on Thursday night is coming from the WCC. Both Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s need to avoid as many losses as possible through their conference tournament.

Santa Clara at Saint Mary’s (11pm)

Think I missed a game? I probably did, so leave a comment below.
